Mawsley's Magnificent Movers

Mawsley Machinery employees gathered at Wicksteed Park, Kettering last weekend to participate in a Dragon Boat Charity Race. The event was held to raise money for a children's charity called Zachary's Shack; their aim is to give terminally ill children an opportunity to go on holiday.

Mawsley's Magnificent Movers were 1 of 42 teams. This was a new experience for most of our team compared to other teams with experience and some professional rowers! The top 12 teams would get through to the finals of course; we wanted to be a part of that. After 3 races and 1 capsized boat, everyone waited to find out who made it to the finals and Mawsley secured 8th place out of 42 teams, earning us a place in the finals!

We then came 1st in the semi-finals and had 1 last race with the chance to win the whole competition! A great effort from the Mawsley team helped us come home with a bronze medal, 3rd place out of 42 teams, what an achievement for a bunch of novice rowers!

Overall, it was a brilliant day as summer comes to an end, a lot of fun for the team and a bit of competition, all for a great cause. We hope to be there again next year to secure gold!
